Who is mad transit?
Maia is one half of the Mad Transit duo. Born and raised in and around NYC, Maia got her start singing in her local school choruses where she was selected for several all-county honors.
After high school, she attended Princeton University where, for a mercifully brief delusional period in her freshman year, she thought she would give engineering a try. She eventually sobered up and graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in Psychology. She then went on to work at Princeton running their alumni online community and editing video for alumni-focused online courseware.
Maia has also worked for Disney as well as Apple and founded Monet Photography. After recapturing the performance bug by singing with the Orlando Gay Chorus for three seasons in their concerts at The Plaza LIVE, Maia has thrown herself full-time into her music career with her partner Dev Michael as part of Mad Transit, and also along with Lauren Lester and Ben Browne as part of The Streetlights.
Dev started being musical early in his childhood. His training includes 12 years of classical voice, 8 years of classical guitar and 4 years of classical piano. Dev attended the University of California at Irvine (go anteaters) with a dual major of music and mathematics.
As a key member of the band "Hard Times," Dev became a local celebrity in Orange County, California. Hard Times, worked with local radio station "KEZY" and headlined shows at some large venues such as the Anaheim Stadium and the Orange County International Speedway.
Lately, Dev has been playing with very talented musicians in and around Orlando, Florida and is very excited to be working with Maia Monet as part of Mad Transit.
